DAILY PAINTING: My first thought was to create a warm foreground image, since the background is largely cool. This is just thinking on paper. Not sure how I feel about this. A larger study, in paint, should tell me what I need to know.

DAILY PAINTING: Here are the 4 panels of the "Doodles" series, side by side on the easel, ready to paint. You see that I've "doodled" the design, which you last saw on newsprint, onto the canvases, in white paint. The surface is so active, that only a basic sketch will do. Stay tuned!

DAILY PAINTING: As promised, here's a large sketch I'm working on (2) sheets of 18 x 24" newsprint, which makes this 48" wide. One of the meanings of "Doodles" is doodling, something we all do in relaxed moments. The design has to be loose and very simple (since the heavy texture of the background will not allow detail). DAILY PAINTING: Here's #1 in the "Doodles" series, which I've named after my dog, Anna, who is a Labradoodle, and the sweetest little girl you'd ever hope to meet. Tomorrow, I've got to do some sketches (actual doodles), to work up the next stage, but at least the underpainting is done.

DAILY PAINTING: The "Doodles" series continues. Yesterday, I started with panel 4 (I know, most normal people begin with 1, but who's normal, right?). These are the center panels (2 & 3), painted side by side on the easel.

DAILY PAINTING: This is the "Doodles" series, which will be a set of four, meant to stand alone as individual pieces, or they can also be hung as a set of two, three or four all together. This is a highly textured surface, so I literally had to tilt the canvas at all angles and rotate it in order to paint all the hidden nooks and crannies. My goal was to create a soft, airy, cool background, which can be adjusted as all four canvases develop. They are 12 x12". A very simple
