DAILY PAINTING: "be-YOU-t-ful"
10-7-15: This is the second layer of the study. I've got a few line drawings of the still life images (but drawings don't photograph well, and I don't feel like dragging out the photography lights). I can easily do a pastel study on top of this tomorrow, to get a feel for the color composition.
I guess I should explain the title: we live in a culture in which physical beauty matters a great deal. Young girls and women are especially bombarded with the message that how we look is more important than our personality, talents, intelligence or any other abilities we might have. It takes effort to counteract this message and realize that we're so much more than our looks, which is what these paintings are about.
